EUR-ACE® label of excellence

The Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering has received the EUR-ACE® (EURopean-ACcredited Engineer) Label, certifying this degree does fully meet the engineering professional requirements. The degree has been assessed according to a series of standards defined in terms of principles of quality, relevance, transparency, recognition and mobility referred to in the European Higher Education Area.

The qualifying Master's Degree is being accredited with this international quality label for a six-year period, until March 2026, for all those students who completed their studies from 31 July 2017 onwards.

This label is granted by the renowned European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education agency (ENAEE), through the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA as per its acronym in Spanish).

ENAEE Agency

ENAEE or European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education was founded in February 2006 with the following objectives:

  • To build trust in the accreditation systems of engineering programmes across Europe.
  • To facilitate the exchange of information.
  • To develop voluntary agreements on accreditation of engineering education programmes and to recognise engineering qualifications.
  • To develop rules for the competences requirements of graduate engineers.

ENAEE is the European organisation in charge of granting the authorisation to the accreditation agencies to award the EUR-ACE® label in the first and second cycles of accredited engineering programmes. The members of ENAEE are agencies and professional organisations interested in the education and training of engineering professionals.

EUR-ACE® system implementation began in 2007, with first labels awarding. Since then, ENAEE has accredited nearly 2,000 programmes in more than 20 countries.

EUR-ACE® Label

EUR-ACE® system includes the main stakeholders' opinions and perspectives: students, higher education institutions, employers, professional organisations and accreditation bodies.

To ensure engineering education programmes educate graduates who can demonstrate these competencies, these programmes are subject to accreditation by their professional associations or other accreditation body that carry out the programme-based accreditation.

The features of EUR-ACE® certification are the following:

  • It covers all engineering disciplines and profiles, it is internationally recognized and it also facilitates academic and professional mobility.
  • It provides international value and recognition to engineering qualification, and it is awarded to programmes meeting the programme's outcome standards.
  • It does respect the great diversity of engineering education within the European Higher Education Area.
  • A quality system has been established for accredited engineering programmes that share common objectives and points of view.

The EUR-ACE® label value

  • It is an additional certification of the high quality of the degree; it meets the quality requirements set by the profession.
  • It facilitates the graduate's access to masters' degrees with the EUR-ACE® label as well as to doctoral programmes in other Institutions of Higher Education.
  • FEANI, European Federation of National Engineering Associations, does include automatically the EUR-ACE® labelled degrees in its directory of Engineering programmes meeting the academic requirements in order to be designated as EUR ING - European Engineer.
  • The EUR-ACE® system facilitates both academic and professional mobility for engineering graduates.
  • The EUR-ACE® label provides employers with a quality seal when evaluating the qualifications of engineering degrees.
  • It is a means of promotion, because students are more likely to choose an engineering degree with an EUR-ACE® label.
