Programme objectives

The Master in Composite Materials arises as a result of the need, formally expressed by leading companies within the aeronautical sector, to train graduates from engineering fields related to the sector in order to acquire different knowledge required for design, manufacture and certification of structures build using composite materials. Within the aeronautical sector, AIRBUS has taken the lead in the definition of training needs which has resulted in an UPM academic programme according to which, in our opinion, it is possible to acquire the required skills to develop structures made from composite material. One of the objectives of this programme is to compress professionals' training time and provide both a global and detailed view of design, analysis, manufacture and certification process of a composite materials structure. Through this approach, we believe it makes easier for a new graduate to have access into employment and it provides professionals within the sector the ability to integrate the knowledge from different areas related to composite materials, facilitating the necessary concurrent engineering. Therefore, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has elaborated a 90 ECTS Academic Programme (whose structure is detailed below) to be delivered not only by professors and lecturers with extensive teaching and research experience, but also by renowned industry experts, in the areas of interest to the Master. This programme includes theoretical content, supported by lab sessions and a Final Master Project.
